Ruth Rootberg: Thinking Spatially: Up, Wide, Forward...and Forward & Up

Ruth trained with Missy Vineyard (2000–2003) and assisted weekly until 2014 when the course was closed. Learning to think spatially as separate but very much related to Alexander’s directions was a key area of initial learning during training that continued throughout. Missy later introduced her ideas of spatial thinking in her book, How You Stand, How You Move, How you Live (2007).

If you haven’t yet been introduced to this topic of the Alexander Technique or would like a review, this hour will be your opportunity to cultivate and empower your thinking of yourself as three-dimensional, inhabiting and relating to a three-dimensional world.

You will be sitting, standing, and walking. You might also lie in semi-supine. Please have books available for your head.
