Hope Martin: The Shape of Awake®—Alexander Technique Applied to Meditation Practice
Hope will share about her many years of experience leading meditation retreats where she teaches the A.T. and does hands-on work in the context of intensive meditation practice. The retreats are a deep dive into recognizing and gently transforming postural habits and patterns of tension and holding that interfere with a direct experience of the present moment. There is an emphasis on participants befriending themselves by accommodating and making loving contact with those long-established protective responses, which also aids in their unwinding. Hope will present some of the practices she has developed toward this end.
Please have on hand a mat or rug and a few books to support your head while lying down and a chair with a firm flat seat and back support, or a stool.
