Clare Maxwell: Cranial Nerve Sequencing Part 2: Freeing the Deeper Layers of the Head & Neck
This is a companion workshop to the first one held last October, where we worked our way through cranial nerves 0 - 3. You can request access the recording of the first workshop HERE.
Explore sensory and/or motor functions of cranial nerves and their corresponding organs or muscles to activate a free and delicate articulation of head and spine, resetting overall coordination throughout your whole body. CNS supports easier access to the free neck and balanced head that the Alexander Technique is famous for and can help you discover hidden areas of over- or under-activation.
Because our nervous systems are so diverse, going through this sequence with an open mind can help you discover things about your coordination and that of your students that may surprise you. We take the journey not to acquire more cognitive knowledge (though that is a side effect) but to listen to our unique bodies and hear what they are telling us on any given day.
Cranial nerve 4: Up and down eye motion
Cranial nerve 5: Sensations from skin of jaw, face, and skull; open/close motion of jaw
Cranial nerve 6: Movement of the eye away from midline
Cranial nerve 7: Tip of tongue, muscle of facial expression
Cranial nerve 8: Balance and sound perception
Cranial nerve 9: Sensation from the back of the tongue
