This workshop will explore the anatomy of standing for peak performance and Alexander Technique coordination.

The human body has evolved magnificently to stand. Understanding how our structure wants to be tuned for being upright in gravity leads to improved coordination and more efficient movements. The models we will be using are that standing is movement, and that we have an inherent intelligent suspension system for being in the gravitational pull of Earth. We will investigate, from the feet to the head, the relationships that allow for an overall unification of muscles, joints, and bones in gravity so that large patterns of coordination coming out of the nervous system enable all parts of the body to participate together in movement. Due to time constraints, this workshop will move quickly.

This workshop will be helpful for anyone who stands (including those with standing difficulties) and for anyone who works with standing students. Anyone can go through the workshop without standing. Also people can sit down whenever they wish.

We'll have an hour to explore, then 15 minutes afterward for Q&A.
